You can rest now buddy

This post is in loving memory of a truly great mate Luigi Paolino. Below are some recordings of our band Epicentre. Lui founded this band, composed all the music and was the drummer. He was the type of guy who always thought the glass was half full and not only that he thought that is was possible to fill that glass to the full. Love ya buddy you will be missed by the many lives you touched through yourself and your music.

Worship in Christmas

It actually started to feet like Christmas on Saturday. I put up the tree, we played our first carols gig in the city mall. Then while preparing for worship for Sunday I stumbled onto this video. Watch the whole thing but what got my attention was the bit between 1:14 – 1:37.

I have never in my life thought of carols as worship songs but it really does make sense and when you listen to the words they really are worship songs!

So I challenge you to stay focused on the words and meaning of Christmas carols they truly are a vehicle for worshiping God.

Luke 2 13-15

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” 15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

Touchdown! for God

As some of you might know I’m quite the fan of the NFL (Go The Cowboys!). Well while my wife got up at 5:45am I found it hard to get back to sleep so I decided to get up and see if there were any games happening. There wasn’t any NFL, but there was a replay of a College game between Florida and Florida State. I decided to sit down and watch a bit for a while. After a bit my eyes were drawn the Florida’s quarterback Tim Tebow, I noticed something under his eyes. On closer inspection he had Heb 12:1-2 written on blacks under his eyes. The commentator then explained that his father was a missionary and that Tim had been doing this for most of the season. “what a way to witness” i thought infront of 91,000 people! So I went to my Bilble and Looked it up. It says

Hebrews 12

God Disciplines His Sons

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I think the scripture says it all, throw off everything that hinders, fix your eyes on Christ and be an effective witness for Jesus.

Big thanks to Steve Freind for posting this. Sometimes after long hard days at work/school/uni you really do need to refocus you mind and body back on Christ cause you fill your mind with worldly things and I guess that it became very relevant to me today.

Love, Grace and all the goods stuff to ya!

Calling

Hey Guys!

It’s quite truely amazing how I ended up at this point as many of you would agree in your own personal journeys, but as i reflect back and put all the pieces together i see how God’s plans for me have all been set out. I guess the journey toward Officership started just recently at Connections conference both my wife Kerry and i were really challenged about making a difference for other people and the world we live in. Anyway we came home all “buzzed” and while i was preparing dinner one night Kerry comes out starting to talk about officership and going to college, I was so gob smacked i can’t actually remember what she said. So from there we did a lot of praying, talking to people to see if we could understand more clearly this sense of calling that had been plopped in our laps. Now having filled out our application to be an applicant  we find ourselves head east again to go to Candidates Weekend in Geelong. I am really excited about the weekend as i can see it putting some of my practical fears to rest. Well im off to cook tea hope to blog some more soon.

Love, Grace and all to good stuff to ya!
